I used redhat when I very first started many years ago, redhat and
mandrake I believe are supposed to be the easiest learning curve. I
believe they are quite large & bloated installations tho which might be
a bit much just for using an internet tv program.

I currently use debian and I find it perfect for me but I have plenty of
linux experience. It can be installed with minimal software to avoid
bloat. I havent used it but perhaps something like xubuntu will be good.

A liveCD version would probably be best to get you up and running but
unless it comes with your internet tv software on the CD/DVD you wont be
able to use it

Actually, I think Ubuntu is easiest for a newbie.
