In the alternative, like Flatfish, rehashed whining from swiped postings.
I do keep getting a hint that I have seen all this trolling before.
I dont have leading edge hardware, so I'm not looking for leading edge
software. I make do. i just showed Linux to a windows user, and while
he liked some of it, he's back to using windows. You want the market
share, provide what they want. You want a private club for geeks, I
guess there's enuf geeks to keep some development going on.
Certainly, there's the enthusiasm of zealots in some of the responses
here. I have the audacity to suggest that another version of linux
might gain a larger market share. Nothing I've said suggests that
developers should abandon the distro efforts they now have, only that
a more focused effort on the x86 would simplify life for users who
already have a life and dont wish to use it promoting a geek tool.
You call it "pandering to wintards", I'm looking at an economic
opportunity for Linux developers who could prolly use the *money*.
Some progress has been made, but group think from the network culture
blinds them to the ways it annoys the single desktop user. That's the
one advantage windows has, that it came out of the single desktop user
environment, and much of the problem it now has are from network
security issues.
As for being called a troll because I bring that up, that's just
juvenile. I dont think anyone cares; It aint that hard to ignore what
I post if you dont like it.
