Hi
I am building a new pc to run linux and I have been recommended an asus
board but it uses the ati cross fire gpu platform. I haven't really had
alot of success with ati cards but since they open up their device drivers
dwas wondering if they are better supported by the linux community. I'll
be running a dual linux system, fedora8 and gentoo. Eventually phasing out
fedora8 and making gentoo my linus os
Well as you know, opions are like rearends... everyone has one 8-). BUT
having said that, I have had Linux experience with both. I like Nvidia
better. However my experiences are based on what I am doing. My laptop has
Nvidia, and my desktop has ATI. As for Cross Fire, I do not have any
experience there. I like the Nvidia due to the ease of getting my Ubuntu
7.10 distro to use it on my new Compaq/HP laptop. It recognized it right
off the bat... no fiddling. The card in my desktop is about 2 and a half
years old, can't remember its name now, but it was the best I could afford
at the time. To get SUSE or Ubuntu to use it, I had to use FWDwrpper (or
something like that) to make it work.
