You can brag all you want about Linux, but no matter what distro or
version, Linux is still a piece of shit. It has no place in the
computer world because it dont support common programs developed for
windows. Until the idiots that develop Linux make a distro that can
run standard software, few people will use it, and it's not in touch
with the computer world.
I have to agree with you. I have been trying to install
opensuse for 4 days now. It lacks my wireless drivers. No problem, the
source code is tiny.
So I try to compile it and I find I need make. No problem , I
do a
yast2 --install gcc make kernel-source kernel-headers

and that tells me I have to update openoffice spellcheck and
java runtimes BEFORE making my wireless work. The download is almost
the size of the install CD, and I'll have to download on an old 14400
modem, paying by the minute for the connection.
Estimated TOA = 2-3 weeks.
Then I can compile my wireless drivers and update the rest.

No, not a joke really. I wonder where support is ?

* I tried opensuse support, but it is patent spyware, spyware
being defined as having to give up personal data to even READ the
docs.

So, the thread you quoted went from Linux sucks because Windows
developers don't develop for Linux (Um, okay?), to you saying "I don't
know how to get something to work, so I agree with you about another
argument that isn't based on my problem"? You know, people develop for
Linux only, does that make Windows suck? There are
programs/applications that don't work well in Windows, too. It really
depends on your needs and goals. I've not found a reason to use
Windows in 10 years for a PC, and haven't ever used Windows for server
related activities (been using Linux since its inception for server
related things). I've never used SuSE Linux, and never had the desire
to, but if you aren't happy with it, consider trying another Linux dist
before proclaiming all of Linux sucks.
