Updating glibc

Hi everyone,

I finally managed to get around the problem with updating with up2date
by doing a manual download of the updates.

I got the following error message while trying to install the glibc
package for RH 9:

Test install failed because of package conflicts:
installing package glibc-common-2.3.2-27.9 needs 47MB on the / filesystem.

Could you please tell me how can I solve this issue?

I imagine that I have to increase the space of /filesystem but I do not
know how. On the other hand, is it normal to get such an error message?
There is no automatic "feature" that adjusts the size of the /filesystem?

Thank you very much for your time.

Another Linux newbie,
George
