Using EXIF to rename a bunch of files?

I have a bunch of folders containing JPG files from my Canon Powershot G2
digital camera. They all have EXIF information in them.

How can I write a script to rename each file using some EXIF attribute in
the file? For example, rename all the files to the "modified date" field in
EXIF or something?

Help? Thanks
