I am looking for a way to remove apt-get and to restore up2date.

I tried out the apt-get application and this has hosed my RPM database on a
RH9 installation. (At least that's what the Red Hat techies told me)

As a result the up2date application does not work.

I tried deleting the __db* files then running rpm --rebuilddb.
The rebuild process works fine but in the end up2date still fails.
