Evolution - links don't work, OpenOffice Ctrl-C/V neither

Hello, ppl.

I am running Redhat 8 (now 9) since about february of this year, most of
the time I am very happy with it. The only thing that makes me switch to
Windows now and then is online-banking, some gaming and some tweaked
applications I use for labelling my CD's. I run Linux 90% of the time or
more nowadays, updating my system through apt-get, using the freshrpms
and Nyquist repositories.

Lately, however, a few annoyances occur to me. And these are besides the
erroneous Nautilus behaviour every once in a while :-).

1. When I click on a link in Evolution, it just doesn't show up in
Mozilla. It just does not work. Nothing happens....even using copy/paste
only works when Mozilla is already open.

2. Copy/paste between Evolution and OpenOffice doesn't work either. Only
e-mail addresses (yes, i am serious here) can be copied and pasted into
OpenOffice...

I guess this all has to do with GNOME and its interaction with the various
applications. There might be even more comparable problems which i haven't
experienced yet.

So, I have copy/pasted (yes between the terminal and the Pan newsreader it
works ;-) some rpm -qa output from my system:

evolution-1.4.3.99-1
gnome-vfs2-extras-0.99.11-1
gnome-panel-2.3.4.1-1
gnome-vfs-1.0.5-13
libgnome-2.3.3.1-1
gnome-desktop-2.3.4-1
gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-32
libgnomeui-2.3.3.1-1
gnome-vfs2-2.3.5-1

I really hope this group can help me out.
