Thank you for the reply.
For me it is necessary that al the chips on the main board work. Because
the Shuttle has just 1 PCI slot to spare. But you are right to point out
that the Intel chipset does work. I'm one step closer to using Linux on
my new PC.

On your question about the graphics card. I'm not happy with the graphics
but for the time being it will work. My dislike for integrated graphics
is that they use shared memory. And shared memory means that some thing
is squashed, either the screen output is slow or the application is slow.
I consider buying the ATI 9600 pro but because it's new I was hoping that
the price might go down shortly.
