Looking for a video / text conferencing solution for red hat 9, have
possibility to use a 24/7 running SOHO RH9 server to "host" anything that
might be rquired to make this work....

the ideal solution will do the following.

a/ real time text messaging as per MSN messenger
b/ ability to send files to an online contact
c/ ability to do duplex video conferencing
d/ ability to invite 2md, 3rd, etc parties to join items A and B
e/ in an ideal world interoperability with users on windows boxes (ok if
they need to download an app too)
f/ should work from boxes on private address space on SOHO LAN (eg 10.0.0.x
/ 192.168.x.x etc) to similar and not require a "directly" connected box.

While we are at it I would appreciate any recommended hardware (eg logitech
webcams suffer AFAIK from a total lack of linux drivers)

Quite willing / able to ./configure / make / etc so doesn't have to be an
RPM solution, but not a wizard by any means.

many TIA
