Hi all,

I've got a bit of a problem that I hope someone has a quick answer to...

I managed to get an old Dual PIII ABIT VP6 motherboard running Linux and
actually using the raid controller as a raid thanks to highpoints driver.

I loaded the driver from floppy during the install phase as per the
instructions from highpoint.

Linux text expert hde=noprobe etc etc, prompted me for driver, loaded from
disk - no problem

My two IDE drives then appear to Linux as a single /sda

Installed Linux, tested RAID fail over capability - OS still runs if I take
out either disk (in turn :-)

Now ran up2date...

Then ran up2date to update the kernel...

It wouldn't as I suspect the noReplaceConfig option exists. (The hde=noprobe
etc etc options?)

Removed that so it would install the kernel and add the config to grub which
I could then modify... but for some reason it failed. The kernel was
installed but not bootable.

Turns out this is due to the ram disk creation failure (I ran thru it bit by
bit till I found an error message). This is due to the HPT37x2 driver module
no being found:

No module hpt37x2 found for kernel 2.4.20-20.9
mkinitrd failed
error: %post(kernel-2.4.20-20.9) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

I don't know if this driver will still work with this kernel, but I would
like to try it, how do I mkinitrd with this driver?

Thanks,

Mark
