Hi;
As a newbie too, I've been using rh8 and managed to got it working:
looking at a FAT drive too so i can share between
M$ and linux. I would also suggest that Using Ximian is is pretty good,
especially for people used to windows.
either way a copy of redcarpet (update software) is a must for people
afraid of the whole RPM thing. (like me)
