I have just completed a Redhat9 installed and upgraded all the packages
via the Redhat Network. However Gaim 0.75 always reports (after sending
password) 'Error Reading from Server'. I've not been able to login yet
and I don't really want for have to install KDE so I can use Kopete. Any
ideas?

I have seen AMSN but that's a total rip-off.
