Hi, installed RH9 the other day and Im new to Linux so naturally theres a
couple of things Id appreciate advice for

Firstly the programs I have installed were all downloaded into my /home
dir - which is now getting a bit cluttered. Should I move these into
ananother location like /usr/bin? Does it really matter where they reside?

With this in mind, how do I switch to root _inside_ Gnome, so that I can
drag and drop files in Nautilus? (have no probs from command line)

Secondly I have a slave drive with a single FAT32 partition running Win98
- this is detected when I use the hardware browser in Gnome, but is it
possible to mount this drive and if so how?

Lastly, I would like to share files with a WinXP box on my network. I can
see this machine from the linux box and share files, but when I attempt to
connect the Linux box from XP, I am asked for a username and password.

However neither root password nor my desktop login are accepted. Do i have
to alter a password file or change the Samba config file in some way?

Thanks greatly, in advance.
