I have RH9 system which I installed with just one floppy and one cdrom
(/dev/hdc). You could insert a floppy and/or CD and (I guess) magicdev
would automount them as /mnt/floppy and /mnt/cdrom and bring up a
browser or music player as appropriate to the disk.
Recently I added a DVD-ROM. Kudzu (I guess) detected it, made it
/dev/hdd and added it as /mnt/cdrom1 in /etc/fstab. I manually added a
/dev/dvd symbolic link to /dev/hdd (for mplayer).
Inserting a DVD data disk does not cause the automounting of the drive.
Is there someway to get magicdev monitor this new drive? When I added a
Disk Mounter applet for cdrom1, I can click to mount/eject the DVD data
disk as a work-around.
Using the control center CD preferences, I set up mplayer to play
videos. Surprisingly, when I insert a DVD video, mplayer pops up (so
maybe magicdev is looking at it?) and plays it. On the other hand, after
quiting mplayer, I cannot get the drive to eject the disk. I have to
power down and use the manual pinhole drawer opener to retrieve the disk.
Any ideas on what is going on.
