Downloading is about the same as window$ (think of tar.gz as the same as
.zip) As far as installation, the instructions are almost always included
as a readme or install file in the extracted directory.
Launch a terminal in the directory and follow the instructions (almost
always ./configure <enter><wait for prompt> make <wait> then su <enter>
root password <enter> make install......thats pretty much it.
RPM packages are just like .exe files...if you have trouble beyond that,
Google is your friend.
