Hello All. I managed to find several solutions to this problem that seemed
to work for others, but not I.
I have a sound blaster Audigy II, and I had everything set up fine under
Gnom e. I used to be a KDE user, so I decided to see whats new, and after
I logged in under KDE, My sound stopped working!
I am using the optical output from the front of the face terminal.
PCM/Master volume is fine.
When I try to rund the sound card detection, even the test sound will not
work.
I also tried downloading and recompiling ALSA driver and used:
yap install gnome-alsamixer
Volumes seem fine, its just that something is not working. I also went
into Kcontrol and disabled the whole menu under the sound section, with
the hopes that it would correct the problem. Still no.
/etc/modprobe.conf:
alias eth0 tg3
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_promise
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
install snd-emu10k1 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-emu10k1 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove snd-emu10k1 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-emu10k1
alias snd-card-1 snd-intel8x0
install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd
/////////////
Any help would be greatly apreciated!
