Has anyone seen processes eat 20x more memory on Fedora, than on Red Hat 7,
8 and Enterprise 3? I compile a program on Fedora Core 2. I run it.
"top" says it is taking 481 megabytes of memory. I confirm this by doing
a gcore. The resulting core file is about 481 megabytes.
I ftp the binary to a Red Hat Enterprise 3 computer. I run the program.
"top" says it is 16 megabytes. Confirmed by the size of the gcore. Other
than the OS version, everything is the same. Same configuration. Same
start up variables.
When I compile on Red Hat 7.2 or Solaris 8, and run the program, the size is
16 megabytes. Same source code. 16 megabytes is what I expect.
There seems to be serious problem in the "loader" on Fedora.
Has anyone run into this?
