How to find build config for an rpm file?

Hi,

here is the problem: I have a Redhat 8 machine with apache 2, php and
mysql. The php version is 4.2.2 and I would like to upgrade, but I see
that upgrading to php 4.3.8 using a binary rpm gives me dependency
problems. So instead I am thinking of building from the php source code.

When doing this, following the instructions from the php site and source
code INSTALL, it is not clear what configure options I should choose. I
would like to set it up to be as close to what I have already, including
the manner in which apache (httpd) uses php. Is there any way to find out
what RedHat used for configurations when it did its build of the 4.2.2 rpm?

Another problem I have in doing this is that the php instructions seem to
insinuate that one should use --with-apxs option, as if this is a must,
but there is simply no apxs installed on my system. Anyone know about this?

Much thanks,
Steve, Denmark
