Hello!
I have 2 computers at home: one desktop with WinXP with SP2 installed
and a laptop with Fedora Core 2.
I'm trying to install my wireless connection between them.
Since I own a Speedtouch 330 ADSL USB modem connected to my desktop
computer and can't afford to buy a router, I'm used to share Internet
connection using ICS.
I've just configured RH to wireless with the following commands:
iwconfig wlan0 essid name
iwconfig wlan0 mode Ad-Hoc
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.2 up (since using ICS the desktop adapter
becomes 192.168.0.1...)
I use ndiswrapper to install my DLINK DWL-G650+ wireless PCMCIA
adapter.
The problem is that I usually use WEP encryption open with a ascii
"passwrd".
When I try to put the command
iwconfig wlan0 key s:passwrd open, I loose my connection and can ping
the gateway at all.
Of couse, I configure the desktop wireless connection with WEP open
and passwrd key.
What is the problem here? I just can't make it work and I'm pretty
worried since I don't feel safe at all without encryption here.
Thanks for your help.
