Following is what the dmesg|less says
hdc: attached ide-cdrom driver.
hdc: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache, UDMA(33)
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12
I can not find a /dev/dvd on the hard drive.
I tried to install mplayer and it said I needed libmp3lame.so.0 before I
can install it. It also says I need mplayer-common before I can
install. I looked for libmp3lame.so.0 and the RPM would not install at
all. Does it matter that it is an src.rpm? I also downloaded the
mplayer-common and it says that it needs mplayer before it can install.
It's like a catch 22 program that I can't resolve without libmp3lame.
How do I set up the dev/dvd and make it point at the dvd drive?
So many questions!! I guess that is what happens when you are new!
