redhat 9, glibc error with Wine install

someone gave me red hat 9, new, it was collecting dust on a friends computer
anyways, I downloaded Wine emulator for linux so that I can play games on
linux and do other
programs too..
when I try to install the RPM, I got a message that glibc >= 2.3.2-27.9.7 is
required by wine, so I am missing this dependency ?
I thought this would have come with red hat 9 ?
what up, how do I fix this ?
