Everything works perfectly since I install Fedora Core 3 and make some
updates. By saying this I mean it not only identifies hardware
components, but also networks with other machines and OSs very well. I
remember my media card reader and one of my pen drive didn't work well
when I was with FC2. So, I think FC is making progress.
The problem I have now is I feel FC3 is slower than Win2K. For example,
Win2K+IE6 is much faster than FC3+FireFox. When I visit this news group,
Thunderbird is also much slower than Outlook Express. I understand
the Microsoft combination should be faster than others because of its
tight integration, but I believe there must exist some other reasons.
Can you guys point out some? I think the algorithms involved maybe the
most important.
One other question is: do you all up2date your machine once a week, or
once a longer period? I often see the Alert icon informs to update, but
I am always reluctant to do that. Am I doing right?
