I am trying to install a dj-6127 printer under red hat. the printer
is on a Ethernet connection(workgroup). I have tried to use cusp but
if I am understanding correctly this is for a printer connected to
another Linux box. I also tried jetdirect. It would help quite a bit
if I knew exactly what I was doing of course. When googling I
believed I had to get the 6127 ppd, gzip and put in something like
/usr/share/cups/model/en . This caused it to show up on the list.
Since my network is dhcp driven I prefer not to use a static address
but allow the dhcp server to resolve the hostname (the default of
//dj6127/). Any pointers in the correct direction is much
appreciated. No hair, no booze, no time , and no ideas left. This is
on msi neo2 redhat (kernel 2.4.21 ----something) ws system. Linux is
not my strong suite by I really don't want any more eXPerience.
PS after I get the printer to work I got to find drivers for the audio
so I have a little fun then but it would be so nice to be able to
print from this box.
Thanks
