First it is great to see an active Linux group that actually discusses
Linux! This is great!
I've got an older machine running RH9 so I've been hesitant to upgrade
to the latest Feudora. It is an ALR Quad 6 with 4 Pent Pro 200 cpus
and only 128 mb ram. RH9 works pretty well on it.
I'm trying to upgrade the XFree86-libs on it so that I can install
some newer software. Of course, RH9 upgrade support is now broken.
I've downloded the XFree86-libs 4.3.0-2 rpm, but get an "rpm error:
public key not available" when I try to install it.
I downloaded the XFree86-libs source rpm thinking I could just compile
the thing myself (./configure, make, make install usually works
great!) but I get some sort of error that the rpm can't be read.
Is there any way I can upgrade the XFree86-libs on RH9, or is RH9 a
sinking ship that I'd be better off bailing?
Is there any tool I can use to give RH9 "update abilities?"
Thank you for your time. Let me know if I need to give any more
details.
