That at sometime you downloaded built and installed a kernel meant for
Red Hat [E]nterprise [L]inux 3.0 and an old one at that,
kernel-2.4.21-27.0.2.EL.src.rpm is that latest for RHEL3.
For RHL9 the latest is; kernel-source-2.4.20-42.9.legacy.i386.rpm
