Hi there,
I'm setting up RHEL3 with IBM x346,which have 16GB Memory.
How much swap size will you take?
How long should a piece of string be?
please tell me in another expression?
required
old days , It was said that two times of physical memory should be
sifor SWAP
I think 32GB SWAP is too much.
Swap is going to depend on what you are running on your system.
On my system
Tasks: 119 total, 2 running, 117 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 6.6% us, 0.7% sy, 0.5% ni, 91.7% id, 0.5% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.0%
$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 725 710 15 0 105 400
-/+ buffers/cache: 205 520
Swap: 1019 0 1019
If running Oracle database application, 2 gig just to get going. Lots
more depending on Oracle applications and queries.
How did you decide SWAP size(your 1019m) at installation process?
.
