Re: Boot problems - please help!

Neil Hindry <n_nospam_hindry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> pinched out a
steaming pile of<45476c44$0$1378$da0feed9@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:

I wonder if you can help me.

I have a dual boot system that has Win XP Pro, Ubuntu 6.06 & Fedora
Core 5.
However, I cannot boot into FC5 when I select it from the Grub menu.

This is the description of my HD setup.

First disk is entirely for Windows XP Pro

Second disk is for Linux, I have Ubuntu & FC5 setup on the disk in
the
following partitions :-

1. Ubuntu ext3 /
5. Ubuntu ext3 /home
6. Ubuntu swap swap

2. FC5 extended /home
3. FC5 ext3 /
4. FC5 swap swap

I am using Grub. Windows & Ubuntu both boot fine. However, I cannot
boot
into Fedora Core 5 and I do not know what to do to solve my problem.
When I select FC5 from the grub menu I get the following error
message(s) :-

Mount: Could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
Setuproot: Moving /dev failed no such file or directory.

I hope you can help me.

I appreciate any help or information given.

Thanks!

Sounds like you installed the FC5 with the option to look in the MBR
for the bootloader and not the *root* partition.

I think its needed for Grub to be looking in FC5's root partition for
it to boot properly.
