Re: Two Sided Printing Driver for Brother HL 1449

Thank you again, Phil

I grasp the concept of defining the two printers but I've not been able to
set up one devoted to duplex printing. No matter how I try to configure it,
it comes out simplex. I assume we are both talking about a manual duplex.
Is that correct?

I print both simplex and duplex on my Brother printer. I've defined two
printers, one for each mode. This allows me to select the type of printing
without changing the printer configuration every time I print something.

Is there a Linux driver available for the Brother HL 1440 that offers

OK, Thank you. I downloaded both the cups and HL1440 drive but have no
idea
which one to install nor how to install it. Somewhere in drilling down
to
them in the link you provided I ran to several statements saying,
"follow
the instructions to install." Except I never came across the
instructions so I guess I still need help.
It is fairly straight forward for cups start by opening a browser and
type
in for the URL something like: http://127.0.0.1:631

Also follow 'Linux driver page' link in the URL I provided earlier;

Quoting:
Brother publishes proprietary Linux drivers for CUPS and LPD for most of
their laser printers and multi-function devices, including SANE drivers
for
the scanners. They can be downloaded free of charge on their Linux
driver
page.

Thank you Lenard. I got the cups installed, rebooted but still no duplex
or two sided printing on my HL1440. Very disappointing. I've contacted
Brother support buy yet to hear from them.
