Trouble with Fedora 8 Servers

I am having a problem getting the httpd and vsftpd servers to work. I have checked the service menu and it shows that they are running. However I can not connect to them from another computer. I have set the configuration for the httpd as the same as the httpd configuration on a Fedora 7 server which is working fine. However I can not get the servers in Fedora 8 to work correctly. I ran ethereal on the 2nd computer I was using to connect. The error message for both Web and FTP was "Destination unreachable (Host administratively prohibited)". Yet the Fedora server is there and returns pings.
Does anyone have any idea as to why the services menu would say that the servers are running, but you can not connect to them?
Thank you,
