Hello
I always tried the rhd support at Germany because we have paid a lot
of money for support subscription. No answer during several weeks.
So I hope someone on this group has I solution or hint to fix the
following bug.
After a few weeks we are getting unable to use yum to update our
system.
It is a rhd5servere
[root@xen ~]# uname -a
Linux xen 2.6.18-92.el5xen #1 SMP Tue Apr 29 13:31:30 EDT 2008 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
And the following message is always shown if I try “yum update”
[root@xen ~]# yum update

What could be the problem? What can I try/do to fix it?

I don't know if this will fix your problem, but the release notes for
RHEL 5.2 specify that you have to update yum-rhn-plugin first. If
you've already done a partial upgrade, then you may have to do a
downgrade first. It's always good to read the release notes.

How can I do that without using yum ?:)

From the release notes at http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5.2/html/Release_Notes/x86/ar01s01.html

If you need to downgrade anything, use rpm.

Like I said, I don't know if this will fix your problem. Since I followed the suggestions, I didn't have a problem, so I don't know what the problem looks like.
