I was working with the "stock" Samba that is for Red Hat EnterpriseIf you login with another user's account, what condition is the Gnome
Linux 5.2 and somehow all Gnome Desktops got screwed up. Without re-
installing or restoring from a full backup, can these Gnome desktops be
fixed?
desktop?
How recent is your last backup?

All logins (except the "specialized" application logins) have the same
Gnome mix-up (no desktop icons and the panel "Places" does not work.
Perhaps /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults or /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory got screwed up. They are the Gnome configuration files that apply to everyone on the whole system. They are in the GConf2 package. Try running "rpm -qV GConf2" to see if rpm thinks they've changed since they were installed. If so, you can restore them to the original from the latest GConf2 package to see if it fixes anything. If not, then you have to keep looking.
