Boot failuer when trying to reinstall grub

Hello,
I was using RH9 and Win Xp. I reinstalled windows, and grub got wiped
out.
Now I am trying to reinstall grub by putting the RH 9 bootable CD.
Boot prompt comes
boot: linux rescue
It shows the following errors
EXT3-FS: unable to read superblock
.....
.....
Kernel panic, try using init=
