Just a thought - do you have any SCSI devices? My NIC would not share an
IRQ with the Adaptec SCSI controller in 8.2 (worked perfectly in 8.0
and 8.1). I had to pull the controller to allow the NIC to work. Also,
are there any relevant messages in /var/log/messages? You can examine
the boot log with boot.msg or YaST will let you look at system messages
if that is easier.
