Hi NG
Back in SuSE 6.2 days I optimized the 2.2.10, 16 & 19 kernels on one of our
work production boxes. It made a HUGE difference to boot speed and I
suspect running processes as well. Its purpose in life was as a Samba
fileserver, POP/sendmail/UOW IMAPD, and dialin. It only had two loadable
modules and ran in text mode.
So the question is, is there any point spending time ripping unused bits out
of my generic 8.1 kernel? This is now a KDE/workstation box but the
hardware isnt likely to change..
Anyone done this?
Cheers Bob
