flickering sreen with S3 Pro Savage 8

Hi,
I got a problem running my ISSAM Smartbook 8375 with S3 Pro Savage 8:
Suse 8.2 (from ftp.suse.com) does recognize the Grafic-Chip, but in all
resolutions the screen starts flickering when the xserver starts.
I tried different refresh-rates, but there is not difference.
I already tried using the fbdev-Driver: No flickering, but this driver
doesn't support my SXGA+ (1400x1050) Screen-Resolution.
Any suggestions??
