Does 8.2 not contain the e1000 module? 8.1 does. They are not likely to
have removed it. Is this a brand new NIC which needs a later driver?

The parameters are for setting things like speed and duplex. If your
switch autonegotiates you don't need any. If it doesn't you may need
Speed=10|100 and/or Duplex=1|2 (half and full). Although you can say
Speed=1000 you will never need to as autonegotiation is mandatory for
gigabit.
