I have a cable modem connected to my box via ethernet, running very well.
But I want to use it via USB.
So far, I can set up an interface if I load the CDCEther module and set up
the interface via
ifconfig eth1 hw ether 00:C3:AF:E2:C2:B7 up
It will then show up in ifconfig as eth1, no problem so far. The trouble
now is to set it up via DHCP. I try to do so via dhcpcd, but that hangs
forever:
carcass:~ # dhcpcd -d eth1
dhcpcd: MAC address = 00:c3:af:e2:c2:b7
When I hit <CTRL> + C, I'm back in the shell, and eth1 is gone.
Any idea what is going wrong here?
The only suspicious thing I found so far is the following entry in
/var/log/messages:
carcass kernel: CDCEther.c: eth1: too many MC filters for hardware,
using allmulti
But that doesn't look exactly wrong either.
Ciao,
Stefan
