SuSE 8.0 and Icewm installation

I am having problems installing Icewm on SuSE 8.0.
I got the .tar.gz file from
http://www.icewm.org/icewm-1_2_12.php

When I run the "makefile" it gives me a list of errors saying it
can't find various files or libraries. Apparently SuSE puts them
in a different place from where the "makefile" expects them to be.

Is there any way to compile this icewm-1.2.12.tar.gz using SuSE 8.0?

SuSE 8.0 comes with an earlier version of Icewm, but it seems to be
too early to be compatible with the themes I want to use.
