Hi all,
I have a Dell Inspirion 2650 laptop and a TrueMobile 1150 PCMCIA card
that I'm trying to get to work on SuSE 8.2. I have installed
wireless-tools, and after trying a couple of different configs for the
card I am getting frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Config One: Open YAsT and create entry for a PCMCIA wireless device
and fill in all the correct information. Restart network services and
I get blinking green link light on the wireless card - activity light
blinks as well.

ifconfig shows the following:
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:2D:8C:F0:48
          inet addr:10.25.240.3 Bcast:10.25.240.255
Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::202:2dff:fe8c:f048/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:6 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
          Interrupt:3 Base address:0x100

iwconfig shows the following:
eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"ncwireless" Nickname:"conqueror"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.457GHz Access Point:
44:44:44:44:44:44
          Bit Rate:2Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:1/3
          Retry limit:4 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:B0D4-5678-9A
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0/92 Signal level:134/153 Noise level:134/153
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

With this config I can not get on the network.

Config Two: Open YAsT and configure eth1 wireless (PCMCIA not
selected) device and enter all the correct wireless info. I get a
solid link light on the card but no activity light.

If I type ifconfig without specifying an interface eth1 is not listed
- but here is the output of ifconfig eth1:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:2D:8C:F0:48
          BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
          Interrupt:3 Base address:0x100

Here is the output of iwconfig:

eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"" Nickname:"HERMES I"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.457GHz Access Point:
00:00:00:00:00:00
          Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:1/3
          Retry limit:4 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

So ... it seems to me I'm closer to having the card working when I'm
not specifying it as a PCMCIA card in YAsT! This is an external
PCMCIA card inserted into a slot though. Anyhow, I'm baffled. I've
read some posts on the web and have tried some suggestions but haven't
gotten anywhere with this.

I have another card that I could use but haven't been able to get it
to work either. It's a D-Link G650 802.11g card-bus unit. If I boot
SuSE with that card installed it detects it as a Cardbus Ethernet
controller whereas the Dell card is shown as "Other (not detected).

I hope I've provided enough information for you to set me on the right
path.

Thanks in advance,
