I just by default like to work with things easy - one can spend many
hours reading a man page like I did learning how to use CHAP to create a
TCP/IP connection under DOS for my favorite DOS browser Arachne (which
is a real labor of love - just to say you can if that makes any sense) -
or you can right-click windows and do much anything you want. Thing
with SuSE - it works enough in most respects you can spend the hours to
find out what is wrong. But for the heck of it, I dl'd PEANUT and it
picked up my Creative Labs modem like a ticking clock. Nothing else
worked mind you (sound, cd/rw, correct video) - but the damn modem was
picked-up and worked perfect.

PEANUT uses RedHat, so I know it is not a lost cause now. Just need to
figure out what. Again SuSE works, but like most folks who have played
with machines over the years - you really do not want a GUI that is a
hassle. SuSE seems great - but I can find only how to download 8.0
using a DOS box - does the trick of downloading the entire directory
structure work for 8.1 and 2? No dosbatch file found for that.

In any event - SuSE is coming onboard - and since RedHat supports my
modem - in time I will find out how to compile using source.

Thanks
