|I am trying to install Suse 8.2 on an IBM Thinkpad with 80meg of memory.
|While the installation is loading (when the initial green bar is on the
|screen), it says I am out of memory and need a swap space.
|
|However, at this stage of loading, it's just loading the install image from
|the ftp server. Disk partioning comes after this stage. So I am kinda
|stuck... I need a swap space to load installation, but swap can't be created
|until the installation loads. Hmm... Can someone help me? Am I doing it
|wrong?
Interesting. It used to be that install disks offered the chance to
create a swap partition if the memory wasn't sufficient. I don't know if
it's still possible with SuSE, I haven't installed on a low memory
machine for a while. Maybe if there really is no way to create a swap
partition from the SuSE installer these days, then boot with one of
those rescue disks and create the partitions first? All you need is
to be able to use fdisk and to grab the last part of the disk for swap.
