Well, reinstalling with 8.2 will get it to work, but you shouldn't have
to do that.

The sound on this motherboard is AC97, which is pretty well supported
these days. The ethernet should work just fine with the standard Intel
eepro100 module.

You can probably grab your kernel sources and recompile it activating
those devices for kernel support or as modules. Chances are, they do
not exist on your 7.3 system.

You can see if they do in /lib/modules/kernel. If they do, then try to
load them up with insmod.
