I installed a fresh copy of Suse 8.2 on my laptop with minimized X version
(as well as tried minimal version). I installed wireless-tools. iwconfig
was unable to see my Linksys card. I tried messing around but to no avail
and in thinking that Suse likes KDE installed the default system.. Low and
behold it now works. My questions is simply this - what is in KDE that
allowed iwconfig to see my card? I thought that only wireless-tools was
neccessary. As an aside, my other pcmcia devices worked under the minimal
installs without problem so I would not think it be a pcmcia issue.

    Just trying to learn.

    Thank you.
