Hi,
I would like to ask if someone would help to solve my
problem.
The following problem is encountered in SuSe 8.2
when logged in as a regular user and trying to
access the internet with pppd and Netscape.
(Note: This does not occur when logged in as root.)
When I log in as a user and activate the dialer, the
PPPD Dialer can create an interface to my ISP. But then
there is no incoming or outgoing traffic
indicated and when I start Netscape I get the
following error message each time I try to
access a URL:
_______________________________________________
Warning. Following Hosts unknown.
home.netscape.com
home6.netscape.com
internic.net
Perhaps there is a problem with your name server. If
your site must use the anon-root name server you will
need to set the $SOCKS-NS environment variable to
point to the appropriate name server. It may (or may
not) be necessary to set this variable or the SOCKS
host preference to the IP address of the host in
question rather than its name."

I have tried the following:
- pinged DNS server
- turned off firewall
- pinged my ISP DNS server once connected
THANK you !
