Most strange install errors like this I have had are usually down to one of
the following.
Bad ram (yes I know it probably worked ok on Win98 but run Memtest from the
installation media just to check)
Dirty or Damaged CD Rom/DVD
Faulty CD Rom/DVD Drive causing read errors
How far into the installation do you get before this happens ?
