I am running Suse 7.3 and tried to install the network card yesterday for
the first time. It's an NE200 compatible Netgear card.
After much trying with Yast2 I managed to get the Linux server to ping
another PC on the network. Job done I thought.
I then tried to ftp files from the pc to the Linux server and vice versa and
kept getting a connection refused message. After a while I realised that
there wasn't an ftp server installed on the Linux server and set about
installing proftp, I think it was called.
After I'd installed the ftp server I could no longer ping the pc. In the
startup console on the screen of the Linux server I have the following
messages:
linux kernel : Hw read/write mismap 2
linux kernel : Hw read/write mismap 3
linux kernel : Hw read/write mismap 4
linux kernel : Hw read/write mismap 5
linux kernel:eth0:trigger_send()called with transmitting
I can no longer get the card to work. As anybody any ideas what has caused
the problem? Also, I am finding Yast2 very difficult to configure the
network card, it seems to keep overwritting my settings. Is there a manual
way to configure the network card as I'm wondering whether Yast2 as left
multiple entries in a file somewhere, or whether the ftp installation upset
something.
Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.
Regards
Shaun
