I have a radeon 9500, the setup is the same:
- download the fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-3.2.5.i586.rpm from the official ATI
driver page.
- On the same page, you find a file with install information.
- install the RPM (with yast or rpm -ivh fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-3.2.5.i586.rpm )
- open a shell and get root (su)
- run fglrxconfig
- this will ask you all questions needed to build a new X-Server Config
with 3D support.
- when finished, you will have a new file XF86Config-4. Rename it to
XF86Config (this is SuSE special and not mentioned in most howtos!) and
replace the old one in /etc/X11/ (perhaps you should make a backup of
your old config):
- restart the XServer or reboot
- done
