Hi!

I have a Problem with my Suse 8.2
I used it and then shut down my computer.
I wantetd to place my hard disk drive higher, so i took it off the power
cable and the ide cable.
The i put them on again ( the same way!), when i played the hard disk 5 cm
higher...
The solution was, that my bios didnt find the hard disk any more...
when i tried a new ide cable it was ok again.... (very strange..)

Then I attatched a new optical cordless mouse and began booting.
Suse startet when looking for USB devices:
starting hotplugging services[PCI NET..bla... USB nothing happened
from thereon...
so i thought it might me the mouse,... i rebooted and connected the mouse
via ps/2 adapter, but from thereon Suse stopped at:
starting hotpluggin devices [
nothing more...
I dont know what to do, i tried Knoppix, and it can boot, finds the mouse,
everything is ok...

then i looked at the boot.msg:

Boot logging started on /dev/tty1(/dev/console) at Tue Oct 28 18:35:41 2003

Master Resource Control: previous runlevel: 5, switching to runlevel:
6

<notice>/etc/init.d/rc5.d/K06capisuite stop

---> here nothing happend anymore ...

and the boot.omsg:

startproc: execve (/sbin/klogd) [ /sbin/klogd -c 1 -2 ], [ maxcpus=0
CONSOLE=/dev/console TERM=linux SHELL=/bin/sh progress=5
INIT_VERSION=sysvinit-2.82 REDIRECT=/dev/tty1 COLUMNS=80
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin vga=normal RUNLEVEL=3
PWD=/ PREVLEVEL=N LINES=25 HOME=/ SHLVL=2 splash=verbose sscripts=24
_=/sbin/startproc DAEMON=/sbin/klogd ]
<notice>'/etc/init.d/rc3.d/S06syslog start' exits with status 0
Starting hotplugging services [<notice>/etc/init.d/rc3.d/S07hotplug start
<notice>pidofproc: pppd 602

INIT: Switching to runlevel: 6

INIT: Sending processes the TERM signal

--> there i rebooted...

If you need any more logfiles or anything, just ask for the ones, i dont
know what could help you...
I am very pleased for every single thing you can tell me, because i dont
know what to do anymore...

thx so far!

Kolja
