SuSE 9.0 with Win Server 2003, DOS Programs and Pervasive SQL (from newbie)

Running SuSE 9.0 I am able to access the files on the other Windows machines
in our office LAN.

1) However I can not get access to a common area at the server. It asks for
my user name and password but I get no access. Perhaps this has to do with
workgroup names in Windows?

2)Under Win XP we run Pervasive SQL clients to access an old DOS program
(accounting etc). Would it be possible to run such a program from my Linux
setup?
